Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

So finally I've gotten the chance to watch the movie I've heard so much about:
Donnie Darko.

I currently have no clue whats going on (and if you watch it I'm sure you wouldn't either), but the soundtrack is pure genius. Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division is a popular one, and it brings that 80s vibe with the song. If you haven't heard it yet or watched the movie go do it, then we can discuss what the heck is happening.

and for the rest of you...CHUT UP!

Recently I've subscribed to a couple mp3 blogs and today I found this dance/hit mix off the mp3 blog, welikeit.indie. Senses Fail - Garden State

Ok, I don't have much time because I got hella friken homework to do and I really shouldn't be blogging. But theres a senses fail concert on march 30th and I'm still wondering if I want to go or not... so I got their new album and its a different sound from their older albums, but still catchy and "senses fail like?" Have a listen!

College Update: I will possibly visit NYU spring break! Still waiting on UCI and USC though.

Norah Jones - What Am I To You?

Norah Jones - What Am I To You?

As I sit and wait for college acceptance letters, I lay back and just try to relax. I recently went back to the SSF library to exchange my CDs for a new batch. I picked up this Norah Jones album, titled Feels Like Home, after hearing her song and album, Come Away With Me. This song brings a slight country/folk vibe along with it, but its still mellow and super chill to listen to after a long day.

P.S. Speaking of college acceptances, I've so far gotten into USF, Cal Poly Pomona, UCSC, and....

NYU!

Today I was surprised with a letter from NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. I had to make and send an audtion tape and take a phone interview in order to apply to the Music Technology department. If I don't get into USC, then I will highly consider going here and following the dream!

I already blog posted today, but this is just too sick and I had to post it! I hope to one day accomplish this medley.

Tracy Shedd - Wednesday's The New Thursday

Tracy Shedd - Wednesday's The New Thursday

I originally found out about Tracy Shedd through a friends mp3 blog for "You Remind Me of Someone" off the album, "Red". Looking for more of her stuff, I went to her website, and I found that she offers her whole album, "Louder Than You Can Hear" all for free download on her website! It's a great album, and I love how the clean guitar complements her calming voice, yet it's all still so catchy. This song in particular exemplifies just that. If you really like the song, then I suggest downloading the full album for free here.

In other news, an interesting article popped up in my google reader: Music vs. Intelligence

Can't stand listening to Beethoven and Mozart while studying? Try some radiohead!

Daft Punk - Too Long

Daft Punk - Too Long

I've gotten into alot of house and electronic music lately, and what better to showcase one of the best artists in that genre with the one and only Daft Punk. This album titled Discovery contains the singles, "One More Time" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger."

This song, although 10 minutes in length (funny as its titled, "Too Long"), is interesting being one of the only songs on the album with an actual vocal line. Put it in your party playlist.. and go have a rave!

Damien Rice - Rootless Tree

Damien Rice - Rootless Tree

Yesterday I went to the library, and finally got a new library card after losing mine when I was like 5. It felt good not needing any parental consent/information now that I'm 18. But anyway, I picked up a couple CD's that I hope to post here some good music from. One of the albums I picked up, Damien Rice's 9, contains Rice's powerful lyrics and acoustic vibes. In this song, I was particularly surprised by the chorus, but it made me laugh at how abrupt it was. Definitely pick up the album if you liked Damien's first album, O.

Thursday - Resusication of a Dead Man

Thursday - Resuscitation of a Dead Man

First post.. I start off with my favorite all time live performance ever, Thursday. Coming off their new album, Common Existence, I can't help but listen to it every day. I was a little skeptical at first, but the new music and sounds quickly grew on me. I only wish I went to Taste of Chaos this year...
